OUR MASTERS SQUADS

-
Currently we have at least 5 squads who row regularly and enjoy varying degrees of competitiveness from the purely recreational to the fiercely challenging!
-
Recreational crews are often to be seen in 8+, 4+/-, 4x and 2x boats as members’ availabilities allow, particularly in the spring and summer when the river is at its evening best.
-
They also enjoy a very healthy social aspect to their rowing and over the last couple of years have organised significant rowing tours, particularly the Thames and the Caledonian Challenges. In the Thames Challenge, the group including their families and supporters rowed from its navigable source at Lechlade to Richmond raising many thousands of pounds for local charities. In the Caledonian Challenge, a similar group rowed the length of the Caledonian Canal finishing with a flourish in a regatta on Loch Ness again raising many thousands of pounds whilst thoroughly enjoying themselves.
-
At the other end of the scale (but including some of the same enthusiastic rowers), we have a number of the most competitive masters crews in the UK, who regularly race at the top events with notable success. Generally rowing at D, E and F, the squad members all train at the same level and are willing to combine to form the fastest category crew for the day.
-
In 2019, this enabled the squad to win gold F4+ at the National Masters Champs, and reach the F4+ final at Henley Masters. In between these highlights, the squad enjoyed several head and regatta wins
-
Rowing and sculling camps have proved successful socially, technically and improving fitness to our aching bones. Portugal in 2014 was excellent and the Vogalonga in Venice another successful weekend.
Our Aim is to provide the widest range of masters rowing so that whether you are a novice, wish to return to rowing (after finally seeing sense!), need to race and win at the highest level or simply want to enjoy whatever spare time you have negotiated with the family – you can do so in top quality boats on one of the UK’s finest rivers.
